Blog Jump Start: Why I Write

Hi there! I know, its been a while.  I saw this blog jump start link up by the wonderful Donna over at What if God Says No and thought I'd jump in.  I'll write another post catching up, but for now, let's chat about why I write.

From when I first learned how to read and write, I kept some sort of journal.  I still remember my very first real diary! It was decorated with Pocahontas, and had a lock! I don't think I wrote that much in it though, and pretty quickly lost it (always a problem of mine.) After many other false starts, I finally got consistent around middle school, and journaled very regularly in high school, when I had both paper and computer (word document not blog) diaries.  While I used them somewhat to keep track of memories, I mostly used them as an outlet for my angsty teen emotions, lol. My journaling dropped off toward the end of college, and by law school I had stopped altogether.

In the wedding planning process I started following wedding blogs for planning ideas, which led to blogs about married life, then trying to conceive, and eventually infertility blogs. The secular world of infertility blogging is so different, and so discouraging if you're coming from a Catholic viewpoint. I was so happy when I stumbled across Catholic bloggers! People who had different journeys from me, but were at least shared a similar mindset.  I was just a reader and occasional commenter for a while, then finally jumped in myself.  Writing again became a way for me to process my emotions, but instead of in private, I could process them in conversation with other bloggers as well.

I think blogging here helped me through the hardest times of coming to terms with infertility and treatment.  As that journey wound down, and we moved on to parenthood through adoption, I didn't really know what to do with this space. I'm still not sure to be honest.  But from time to time I think of something I'd like to write here, and of the community I found through these blogs, and I think that's something worth continuing.  So here's my try!
